Drive times are approximately 30 minutes from Oakland Park to Downtown Orlando Florida and the same to Disney depending on time of day and traffic being accident free etc. It is a much closer drive to shopping in Winter Garden FL. Namely the Winter Garden Village which has a very wide selection of places to eat or shop including Target, Lowe's and many, many more even a Pei Wei restaurant and the list could go on.
The community has a lovely amenity center completed in 2018. Not that it needs it. The Butler Chain of Lakes and Lake Apopka are very nearby. Also, there is a LA Fitness at Winter Garden Village. It is a nice park on the shores of Lake Apopka and has a children's park, fishing pier, one of the few boat launches around and much more.
Oakland Park is one of the larger communities in the area. There are several builders who were allowed to build homes in this planned neighborhood and there were over 42 available designs to choose from. The community pool, amenities center/clubhouse is already in place and stunning. Next to the community pool there is a children’s "tot lot" or play area. There are many open spaces and trails all through Oakland Park.
The West Orange Trail goes through the center of the neighborhood. You locate it running east to west beside the northern bank of Lake Brim. The West Orange Trail's part of the rich history of Winter Garden and Lake Apopka. In the early 1900’s the railroad came to this area to transport Cedar Trees and of course Oranges. The trail closely follows the trains former route and has several stations and pit stops along the way. The trail is used by people jogging, bicycling and walking on a daily basis. There are a couple railroad ties left behind but very few and they are challenging to find. They are sticking out of a tree on the Western end of the trail.
